At the base regular cab trim level, both the 2017 Silverado 1500 and the Ford F-150 feature a V6 engine under the hood and a 6-speed shiftable automatic transmission. With this configuration, the Silverado offers greater horsepower and torque than the F-150. Both trucks start out with rear-wheel drive with the option of 4-wheel drive as you go up in trim level. You also have the option of larger, more powerful engines in both pickups at upper trim levels.
